Title: Need help transfering dats
Post by: hoobash on January 27, 2008, 04:46:35 PM
I am at the end of my rope over here. Cant wait to transfer the last dat so I dont have to ever look at them again. I have a audiophile 2496 which use to work great. For some reason it just doesnt work anymore. It will start recording and then I drop outs. I battled with it for while and moved on to my ua-5. I had to do some minor battles with that but it seems to stream the audio now. I created a new partition to record audio about 8 gigs. I started using soundforge 8 and for no reason it stops recording after about 15 mins. I moved on to audacity but I cant set the record length so I had a partiton filled with 8000 .au files. I cant be around to hit stop after every recording. I anyone has ideas on how to get either soundforge of audacity to work that would be great. I am pretty much ready to give up which I dont want to do

Have you considered trying to track down the root cause of the problem(s)?

The original problem could be a bad output on the DAT, bad 7-pin cable, a bad coax cable, might need to un-/re-install Audiophil2496 drivers.  Similar possibilities with the UA5.  What (if anything) have you ruled out so far, and how, as the cause?

The audiophile is just done. Its been in 3 machines and just doesnt work. I have never had issue with installing it in the past. The ua5 seems to work now but every once in while I need to power it down and back up. My real issue now is software. Soundforge is do weird stuff like stoping in the middle of a recording for no reason. I just tried to resample a file and it stalls at the end of anti-alias filtering
