I was just curious if it could be made into a 7pin>coax cable? Anyone seen inside the head?
-
an optical cable is essentially glass. the construction and materials of the coax and optical cables is different.
-
I thought I heard somewhere that they could be made into a coax cable since you only use the 7 pin head to make the active cable. Everything else is discarded.
-
as far as the 7pin>coax cables are concerned, are there any electronics in the 7pin head? If not, it'd be a pretty sweet hack job to splice a 7pin>coax off of the pins inside the optical cable. Hmm... wishing a had a 7pin>optical to destroy...
-
speaking of, I know someone here makes these but cant remember who.
I got a 7pin-> coax I/O and the input is messed up...can anyone rebuild this?(would prefer a complete rebuild/replacement of both coax connections.

I can rebuild it.

You can use an optical plug. Just start hacking until you see the last board with the pins connected to it & solder to those.

That's kinda what I thought. I never had a reason to use the optical cable. Anyone out there got a broken one I can play with?

i have a broken one, let me look for it tonight. might be gone already.... output still works but the input optical cable has a kink in it.

just out of curiosity...where did you get that cable? I had an optical cable (active) that I included in the sale of my core sound cardioids. It had a kink in one of the cables.
