Title: HELP: Need Mike Wren's FLAC installer (site down)
Post by: Fatah Ruark (aka MIKE B) on February 05, 2008, 02:50:10 PM
I'm reinstalling Windows today (joy) and can't seem to download Mike Wren's FLAC installer from his site.  :-[

If you have a copy, I'd sure be happy if you could send it to me, or direct me to an alternate download site.

Thanks!

my email is: sloppyart(at)gmail.com

just go to the official FLAC page and download it there:

http://flac.sourceforge.net/ (http://flac.sourceforge.net/)

just go to the official FLAC page and download it there:

http://flac.sourceforge.net/ (http://flac.sourceforge.net/)

Mike's program installs everything you need, in one easy package (FLAC Frontend plus several FLAC plugins).

I may have to go that route, but Mike's program is effortless...I like effortless!  ;D

plug-ins for what?  as far as I know, the FLAC frontend installer on the sourceforge page is the same as on Mike's page.

I re-installed FLAC FrontEnd recently on my new PC.  The MikeWren installer download is dead, and the flac.sourceforge download page simply re-directs users to http://members.home.nl/w.speek/flac.htm.

The download ZIP includes instructions for how/what to install (FrontEnd, FLAC, tag.exe, a couple VB run-time files if necessary).  I found it easy.  Need any help, lemme know.

Use the FLAC for Windows with installer link on the flac.sourceforge download (http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html) page; it includes FLAC FrontEnd.

After finally -using- the manually installed FLAC FrontEnd, the one to which flac.sourceforge links...turns out it's an old version, without Fingerprint support.

So...back to the original request:  Anyone have a fairly recent download from the MikeWren site they're willing/able to share?

really?  I have FLAC Frontend (from flac.sourceforge, with the latest version, v1.2.1), and I make Fingerprints all the time.  what's the problem you're having?

The only Windows FrontEnd link I could find on the FLAC.sourceforge download page (http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html):  http://members.home.nl/w.speek/flac.htm

The version of FLAC FrontEnd in that link:  v1.7, which doesn't include fingerprint functionality.

Okay, hoooooold everything...turns out the FLAC for Windows with installer (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/flac/flac-1.2.1b.exe) link includes FLAC FrontEnd.  :smacks forehead:  News to me, could've sworn it used to be just the FLAC files and not FrontEnd.  I think I'm all set, now.  Thanks for the reality check, Jason.
