DOes anyone know if there is a mic stand adapter for the D50?
-
There is a threaded slot on the bottom for use with a tripod. They show it in the manual on page 14. But from what I have read, and from a few samples I have heard, you might want to think about having some external mics on that stand... :) EDIT: Instead of using the internal mics, I mean.

Yes, I know you cant mount it to a tripod.
Most places I go to where I would be using this have mic stands available that I can use, so I dont need to carry a tripod. So, is there some kind of adapter available I can use to mount this to a mic stand?

cool..thanks

The tripod mounting hole on the bottom of the D50 is 1/4"x20. That adapter that was suggested has a 3/8" stud, so either you need an additional adapter to bring it down to size or a different adapter with a 1/4" stud.

Crap! Sorry to have recommended the wrong one glocke12. I asked the same question a few months ago and someone recommended the one that I gave you the link to. I never ordered it and just assumed that the person who recommended it to me knew what they were talking about.

no sweat harpdoc....I should have checked the specs myself.

Get one of these 5/8 female to 3/8 male $2

and pair it with this 3/8 female to 1/4 male $5

I like the looks of the one mentioned by Church-Audio, because of the ball-head adjustment capability.

I didn't realize they were that cheap. Go for the ball head. Its only $18. I thought they were like $50.

Do you think the ball head adapter will work for the PD50 ? It is actually intended for the R09. It wouldnt surprise me if edirol used some kind of weird non standard size for their stuff....

Just ordered this combo. It was dirt cheap and should do the job (we'll see when it arrives).

HarpDoc, I'm not sure what pieces you already have, but the Smith-Victor stud adapter is made to clamp onto an unthreaded 5/8" stud, not a threaded 5/8" mic stand (or the threaded end of the flexible extension you're getting).

I saw one of these in its bubble wrap packing at a music store the other day. The clerk didn't seem inclined to break the seal and open it up, but from the looks of it I'd say it had a standard 1/4" tripod thread.

I have a few of these, as I purchased it to go with my R09 recorder.
It is 1/4 threaded and works great. It's very solidly built, and I have used it with my Zoom H2, Zoom H4, Marantz PMD620, and Edirol R09. Simply love the ball head.
I do video and use a simple mobile setup so I can mic the speakers and crowd, while sending a wireless signal to my camera as well as record main audio to my recorders. This is my small setup. if I am micing a band or recital/play, then I use my Edirol R4 to record via (4) external mics of mics and board feed.
I actually use a mic and and attach my wireless handheld to the mic holder and use a clamp from Windtech to attach to the shaft of the mic stand. Then I attach the OP-R09M to the clamp and adjust as necessary.
Here are some pics on my "Tools of the Trade" blog. Scroll down to the bottom of the age to see. (BTW, this is an old setup, as I said I now mainly use just a wireless handheld and the internal mics on my recorders).
