Title: decoding WavPack on a Mac?
Post by: cleantone on February 09, 2008, 06:43:00 PM
Can anyone help me out? I have found "libraries" but I have no idea how to use them. xACT seems to be able to encode but it didn't decode for me.

Thanks. I should have thought of that. Didn't know Max could do that. On it now. +t.

ETA:

I had trouble decoding to anything but FLAC. I couldn't get it to do AIFF or WAV. I am not sure why.

Thanks Wayne. I'll check that out a little later. Last night I found that using Max to go to FLAC made FLAC files with no compression. At first I thought WavPack was super effective but after decoding the FLAC to WAV I realized the 2gb FLAC were still 2gb as WAV. Weird.

ETA: I haven't tried the WV files yet but I decoded a few FLAC to LAME mp3 and was pleasantly surprised to see it transfered metadata. That is awesome.

Did you go "setup output formats" in the formats menu? You can choose the FLAC level there. It's possible that it's set to 1 by default or something silly like that.

I think it defaults to 5. It was set to 5.
