Title: Need help pointing to a new recording device
Post by: lordbelial on February 15, 2008, 06:30:46 AM
I think it's time to upgrade my recording system

Actually I'm a little bit lost in the recorders market, so I'd like you guys to help me with your experience.

My actual rig: BSC/K (busman) > Segue dogstars > UA-5 bm2p+ > NJB3 & MT24/96

I'd like to have

24b/48 (minimun) 96 (maximun)
HDD or CF
Nice meters
2 chanels
Seamless split of non file limit (f.e: the 2GB split in the MT2496, that's a thing I'd like to avoid)
Digi in
Don't need 48V phantom (I'm gonna run UA-5 bm2p+) but appreciated

I think a PMD-671 will fit my needs and fits my budget (500-600 USD in the yard sale)

Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the space!

The Tascam HD-P2 is a very comparable to the PMD-671, and provides everything you're looking for.  I'd look into that as well.  Both are nice, reliable decks.
