Title: Solution for R-09 jack problems?
Post by: flintstone on February 23, 2008, 12:09:00 PM
I read about this breakaway 1/8-inch input jack on RAMPS. This might help R-09 owners avoid damage to their fragile mic input.  Cheap insurance!

hmm.

It helps to protect the wire & plug, but NOT the jack!

The best advice may just to be using r/a 1/8" products only on the R-09.

Well, looking at this...

It should protect the jack from the largest forces when the plug gets bumped. But it also seems to be adding a huge lever to it so that small forces will be amplified, working away on the jacks mechanics over time probably adding to fatigue. I think the right-angled jack is really the best solution as you note. Now a R/A jack with a break-away would probably be nice.
