Title: Linn Studio Masters edit protected?
Post by: Petrus on February 23, 2008, 02:42:15 PM
I bought and downloaded one Prokofiev album from Linn records in 24/96 format with the intention of making a 16/44 versus 24/96 test file out of it. After converting the file from FLAC to WAV with Sound Devices Wave Agent I tried to open the WAV files in Adobe Auditon 1.5, which tilted and shut down immediatelly, and Apple Soundrack Pro latest version, which refused to open the files. So, are these FLAC files, and WAVs, somehow protected, as these 24/96 capable editors refuse to touch them? If yes, any workarounds?

My SD 722 plays the original FLACs just fine, exept that there is an annoying popcrack at the end of each file.

Check r8brain for the SRC. Might solve the issue (the smaller version is for free at the voxengo site).

Used Max for Mac (unstable beta) to convert to AIFFs, those were accepted by Audition. Now I have a 14:20 file where for every 30 second segment the music is randomly either 16/44.1 or 24/96. I can not hear any difference. Played via SD722.
