Title: Ikey Plus
Post by: gristlejaw on February 27, 2008, 02:00:53 PM
Anyone give this thing a spin?  I've taped many years on different rigs (last one was a D8) DAT.
How does this compare to DAT/MD recording?

thanks

Not a pro grade unit for field recording. More geared towards bedroom project studios or podcasting type stuff.

AFAIK, this unit doesn't contain a bit bucket, so it simply does the pre/AD stage.
So the comparison with MD/DAT is moot, you should rather compare it with other pres and AD's. I beleive that the consensus here was that it's inferior to trusted gear like UA5, CA-9100 and AD20...

There's been talk about a pro version out that should be better than "plus", but it's not featured on the official web site, so I guess it's vaporware.
Anyway at that price you can pick up a UA5, so take your pick ;-)
