Title: Stealth Mic or good
Post by: gsmregv on February 29, 2008, 09:20:13 AM
I was recently at Magnoliafest in Florida.  One of the tapers had a setup that I was not firmiliar with.  It looked like small condensors or diodes only on his mic stand and they were seperated by about 18 inches.  No covers over them etc.  I listened to his recording and it was very good.  Does anyone have any idea what these were and I can get a set or make them?

Thanks

how large were these ends?

we ahve some incredibly small gear available to us, such as the DPA 406x miniature omni's (lavalier mics)

there are also other mics taht are termed "active" mic body/remote cable/capsule.
these are rather small in thier footprint.

Maybe you could give us a bit more description?
But, really, you were probably looking at one of the above possiblities.

Indeed.  Take a look around in the Rig Pictures section of this thread.  It's conceivable that there's a Mag Fest thread in there that will show those very mics...
