Title: Powering AT899CT5 mics.?
Post by: English Haze on October 11, 2005, 07:02:59 AM
I see from this (http://"http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=44918.0") post in the retail forum that Sound Pro. are selling these AT mics. really cheap but they have a wireless transmitter connector.

What are my options for alternate termination and powering if I wanted to go for them if I have a Mic2496 pre-amp/ADC that can provide 9v or 48v phantom power?  The guys at Sound Pro seemed to imply that they won't run on 48v phantom but that's not necessarily an issue as the Mic2496 can be configured to power DPA 406x at 9v as well as the option for the full 48v. Would these require the same as the DPA's?

The Mic2496 has a 5 pin mini-XLR input with various breakout cable options including 5 pin mini-XLR to 2 x full XLR female or 5 pin mini-XLR to 3.5mm socket.

Sorry if this is basic question but I'm just getting in to the technicalities of these small mics. I've searched around for info. on AT899 mics and am confused by the power requirements. Some sites say they need/come with a power module others say they don't.  Any clarification from anyone using these would be greatly appreciated.
