Ask The Tapers / Re: Looking for an SD card for the TASCAM DR-2d
« Last post by mrfender on June 01, 2026, 12:41:12 PM »
The Tascams tend to be a bit fussy.   I don't think it is something I would experiment with .

Maybe I've had good luck but I haven't had SD card issues that I can think of with any of my Tascams (dr-02d, dr-05, dr-22wl, dr-40, dr-44wl, dr-680).  I've run up to 32gb cards but agree that it's mandatory to run a format on them each time I use them.

Never had any issues with any sd card up to 32gb on the R-05.
Don't know about Tascam, never used anything other than the R-05

^ That's not the same recorder! Some are more sensitive to SD card choice than others.

I use a 32GB SanDisk ULTRA in my Roland R-05 (speeds of 120MB/s) however I think most of them work well.

Were you able to point the mics towards the PA?

In the same general direction...  I usually try to capture stage sounds from up close-ish as much as possible, especially for instrumental bands.
My front row spot was 15-20' from Max's drum kit and Dave's amp, which is further back than some of my previous recordings of this trio in smaller rooms.  I couldn't see the PA since most/all(?) of it was hidden behind a curtain at 2220.

All of the shows I've seen in the main 2220 room the past year have the performers on the floor in front of the raised stage instead of the stage itself.

In my experience with both the A10 and SP-CMC-8 cards, doing X-Y on top of my
head is pretty close to omnis in sound, the main difference is it rejects some noise from directly behind.

Thanks for the additional info.
The line cards are super directional.
Perfect for certain taping situations.
I'll keep mine.

it sort of looks like this one, minus your line capsule: https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/catalog/product/view/id/8224/s/bp898/category/182/

Some further information with a picture of the "line" pattern:

This is the u853 line-cardioid:

i agree with others that said it looks like an AT 831 with those unique holes that model had
