hi all

i taped the neil young hammersmith apollo show on the 8th march 2008 and need some help. i havent had the chance to listen to it all having done the transfer and track marks. overall, the recording levels were not set high enough when i taped the show. when i play the recording through my stereo, i have to crank it all the way to the top to get a half decent listen -  the acoustic set suffers especially. the electric set isnt as bad but could still use some work to boost the levels.

i was wondering if there is anyone here who would be willing to master the recording. i have adobe audition but have no idea how to use it. from a complete amateur perspective, i reckon the volume levels need to be boosted and the clapping (in places - especially the acoustic set - lowered). the recording itself is very clear so im sure, with a bit of work, it can turn out to be a very nice recording indeed.

i am seeking someone trustworthy, with experience of mastering recordings who has a bit of time on their hands. if you are this person i will be willing to send the original wavs to you. in return i ask you master the recording and either send me back the mastered version for myself to torrent or for you to torrent at dime yourself

im more than happy to share the recording but feel it could do with some work first

thanks

Alex

use a gain envelope? amplify?

A plug in like that or something else to bring the recording up

;) :-*  Thanks Val.  I'll be using Digital Performer to work on it when I get the files.  My guess is add I'll some gain, maybe some automation and/or a limiter with the threshold set exactly at (or just under) the music's loudest peak.  I'm pretty visual, so I'd like to see the waveforms from the raw .wav before I decide how I'd attack it.
