Beyer MC930 & Josephson C42MP
« on: March 31, 2008, 04:52:01 PM »

Slightly off topic for this forum, but probably of interest to some.

I just got my MC930's in the mail today, so I put them up as drum overheads to get a feel for difference between them and the C42MP's.  The results are in this forum:

Thanks.  That's great.  Exactly the kind of comparison I want to hear.

Please DO NOT mail me with tech questions.  I will try to answer in the forums when I get a chance.  Thanks.

It's probably worth seeing a picture of the room too.  This wasn't done in a professional studio, but rather in my basement.  And, that space is much smaller than the places people around here usually record.  Size matters...

Note, that this picture was taken a while ago and doesn't show the position of the mics as they were used for the recording mentioned in this thread.

The same note applies for this older post:  http://taperssection.com/index.php/topic,101069.0.html

Congrats on the new mics :)...and sorry to see you had MTII problems :(.

Just to continue the comparison theme of this thread, here's a pretty cool link to a studio comparison of a bunch of different mics (beyers included ;D ) on drums, acoustic guitar, male/female vocals...doesn't have a ton of mics we typically use but none the less it's interesting. Don't know if this has ever been posted here or not.
