Does it have a drive test/scan function? Did you try to re-format your drive since you had the first problem?

i got a used jb3 off ebay in november and i have taped maybe 20-25 shows and only once did it freeze.  i replaced the batteries and taped the headline and chalked it up to someone bumping the table or the heat.  sounds like you may need to reformat.  for instructions on this go to the jb3 faq on here.  if you try that and theres still an issue you may want to contact whoever you got it from.

If you are storing it inside a closed bag while recording, that won't work either. You'll need to sorta keep it on top so it can get some fresh air. It doesn't dissipate heat well.

Does it crap out if you loose the SPDIF clock too? I forgot.
