thought this might be of interest.
http://tinyurl.com/3r39sqIts a neutrik part. normal style XLR housing only w/o threads. its threaded internally like the XX series, but its small and shaped like the NCX normal ones.
what it has is this little screw in "lid" that screws down on the pins and holds them in place (no chuck needed). It leaves a few threads of the lid exposed so you could actually screw something on to it.
way cool.
but, the problem I see is that you'd kill the threads if you drill these. I am currently working on trying to fabricate a cover that will screw on and have right angle adjustment.
