Need some help with a stand adapter
« on: August 13, 2008, 03:33:06 AM »
Hey guys, I have an Dynatran 806-A stand (a light stand) with a small, large thread 3/16" (camera tripod mount size) mount on the top. I need to get an adapter from 1/4" to 5/8" to mount my t-bar. Anyone have any ideas where I can get one of these if they make one?

Are you sure it's 3/16" ?

Camera tripods normally have a 1/4" thread and these adaptors are readily available.

Um yeah ::) Guess I shouldn't be trying to measure things at 2:30 a.m. (I'm on vacation). It's 1/4". So i need something to go from 1/4 to 5/8". No wonder I haven't found anything. :P I wrote dave. I'll order one from him if I can't find one at the local sound/lighting shop.

Then you will need a 3/8X16 to 5/8X27 adapter. Most music stores have those.

A guy at the sound/lighting shop I go to gave me a mount but it's 3/8" to 5/8".  :( The mount on the stand fits in the tripod hole on my camera and I'm almost certain it measures 1/4". Guess I'll have to order one from Microphone Supplies. That clamp looks like it would work but it's 3/8". I guess I could screw the adapter I have in hand into that and it would work. MSTaper 8)

That's the idea! I have one and it works well. It also makes it easy to attach and remove the whole bar/mic assembly if you have to run between stages.

QFT.

I would have given the same answer as cybergloot to your question.
That's the answer I always give for stand adapters.

check the head on your 806-a....it should be reversible.  There is a thumbscrew that will loossen it and you can flip the head over....so you should actually have 2 different size threads total.   You may not need that adapter.  check it out.

Thanks Taylor. The 1/4 to 5/8 adapter I ordered from Mic supply came today, so that problem's solved. I'll still check out the stand just for future reference. Thanks as always.  :D  MSTaper 8)
