M-Audio Pulsar II stereo set
« on: March 24, 2009, 07:15:10 AM »
should arrive today in the mail.
I've been curious about these for quite some time.  found a B-stock deal and picked up a pair.
I want to see how they hold up against some of the other mics in the sub $1k range.

could be a good "sleeper mic".

I'll put them up against the at853s, Audix, Oktava, studio projects, mc930's even..., and see how they do.

no can do, but thanks for the invite.
I'm doing claypool in boston on thurs.  can't go out 2x in a row like that and maintain the household harmony.

They'll smoke everything but the Beyer's.  They truly are "sleepers"

they do...., I used them briefly the other night.  was having technical difficulties and didnt use them much, but what I heard blew my socks off.  I'm going to run them for NMAS on Monday.
anyone want to use my 414s or m248 that night, you are welcome.

and when am I gong to see you again?  I've been schlepping around cables in my bag for you thinking that I'd see you at the local gigs.

Back to the mics.
the kit is first rate.  hardwood jewelers case, nice foam cutout insert.  two mics, two clip, windscreens and a very nice T bar w/a riser for doing XY or ORTF where one mic needs to be over the other.  Fit and finish on the mics is very nice.  They look just like the Mojave series of condensers.  Have a nice heft to them too (if its heavy, it has to bee good, right? ;-)
