If I rephrase that question:
is the MTII able to record/convert to MP3 on the fly, if it's being fed a digital signal?

I guess it's possible, but why?
According to your sig you own the gear, so I guess you could just look into the menues of the MTII and see if the setting is there.

Put MTII in the subject header, to attract the attention of the microtrack owners...

Yeah, its for the no spoilers project.  My main deck will be recording a 24 bit wav file off my AD2K.

basically an effort to provide untracked torrent as soon after the show as possible. this way if people can wait for the torrent they can listen to the show without any idea what was played (as long as you can stay off the message boards).

It seems like a cool idea, in theory at least.

But, realistically... if you have to copy the MP3 from flashcard onto a computer and then torrent it... how much longer does it take to start with the 24bit wave file, save to mp3 in your favorite editor, and torrent that?  It might add 5 minutes to your workflow, but it avoids lugging the extra recorder, etc.  Not worth the hassle in my book, but to each his own.

Have you ever seen a microtrack joe?  ;)  Hardly a lug.  I dont want to be editing wavs after the show, i want to be hanging with my friends.

Yeah, I've seen them, had people patch out of me, fought to get it to sync...  Agreed, not a BIG deal, but to me, typing "lame file.wav" isn't a big deal either.
