Flac Fingerprint help
« on: June 10, 2009, 11:05:25 PM »
I haven't uploaded a show in quite some time and I have been trying to do the Flac Fingerprint but when I open it up, it is blank.  Anyone know a fix or what I am doing wrong?

I use the FLAC front end and add the files I want fingerprinted, select "fingerprint" from the menu, specify the name of the fingerprint file and I get a fingerprint file with fingerprints in it.  What are you not doing in that chain?

I did all of that and the file created came out blank.  I can't figure out what's up.

Does the FLAC front end perform all the other functions?

I'd try Trader's Little Helper or something rather than FFE.

IN Flac frontend you have to make surte all your .flac files are in the window, and you must enter a filename in the dialog box, or else it won't do anything.

Traders Little Helper is much better IMO - (Im a recent convert from Frontend)

Last time I tried to use Frontend - they still had a broken installer that left the program useless and complaining about some missing MSOCXC.blah file. (aparently something not in the current XP version?)

TLH also makes a genuine ".ffp" file (using that extension) - some torrent sites demand that...

Are you sure your files are OK? The fingerprints are actually stored in the file's header upon encoding, so when there's an error at that stage, you won't be able to read the fingerprints later. Have you tried it with some other FLAC files that you know are good?

I moved to Trader's Little Helper and it was much better.  I think Vista and Frontend don't like each other.

Now I have a new question.  Since its been 2 years since I've uploaded and I now run Vista, I can't figure out how to lock folders so I can just select the one folder instead of individual files in the folder.  Any suggestions?
