Topic: Moving Files in Cool Edit Pro or Wave Labs

I have a very basic question that I have been unable to figure out for a week, and it's making me crazy.

I'm trying to do a matrix, and I need to line up the files to a sync point.

In Cool Edit Pro, I can't drag the files right or left

Same thing doing a Montage in WaveLab.  People have told me it is easy to sync the files, but I have no idea how to move them to line up.

Can someone give me some explict instruction with either program?

I know this isn't answering your question exactly, but Sony Vegas is super easy to make matrices of two sources.  You just drop the files, align them (by clicking on one waveform and dragging, and the stretch (by pressing 'control' while clicking on the waveform, then dragging) one to match the other, then render and you're all set!  Takes only like 10 minutes for an average show (I've done three so far).  It did take me about half an hour to get familiar with the basic features of Vegas and the interface, but after that it's really easy.

I don't have Vegas, but all the files are in Adobe Premiere, with the start point synced.  The show goes out of sync noticeably at about 7/8 thru.  I need to reset the clock speed for the two file to match (I know how to do this), I just need to use one of the audio programs because I need the exact time of the sync point, and then use R8Brain to set the file correctly.

What you wrote is exactly what I'm looking for in the other packages....

I use Adobe Audition, which was CEP before being bought out.  It should be very close to the same thing.

Anyway, in your "Multitrack View", you need to use to the "Move/Copy Clip" tool.  On the toolbar, this is selected by hitting the little button with the arrow and plus symbol.  Then you can take the cursor, grab the waveform, and with the mouse button held down, move the waveform. 

If you can't find the button on the toolbar, the "Move/Copy Clip" tool is available by selecting the following from the main menu: "Edit > Tools > Move / Copy Clip".
