« on: July 07, 2009, 11:36:19 AM »
Hi ive been transferring all my DATS. Last night i came acroos a tape that would not go digitally in to my soundcard. it said in the software "no Copy" so im guessing its an SCMS thing? how can i get around it? i know about a SCMS stripper but dont reall want to buy one. thanks

Just your MT instead when that happens. Move the digital out cable from your DAT machine over to the digital in on the MT, and you should be able to write the wave to the CF card just fine, no copy protection.

I never liked the idea of hauling my big rack mounted DAT machines out of the family room where the stereo system is located, and cramming it into my office somewhere so I can transfer DATs and criple the computer for doing much else while tape is being copied. I have loved the freedom of using my old PMD670 as a transfer tool. It sits out on top of my SV3700 permanently now, and all I have to do is carry CF cards back and forth and dump the waves to a HDD in minutes rather than hours.

Good Luck with your project. I have about 1000 more DATs to go, and I hope to finish before I die of old age.  ;)

awesome idea! I ran into this same issue about a month ago and posted here (I think) inquiring about it. Only thing I don't have a cable to go from my D7 to my iPAQ 2495. Might have to buy one of those....

Thanks for the thread!

edit to add:
what I did try was going D7 (digi out) >UA5 (digi in) > digi out > iPAQ 2495 (digi in) but that didn't work....
