Note though that Cool Edit was bought by Adobe and is now called Audition and is up to version 3.

Peace

Hey, thanks for that link! That will come in handy when looking for stuff. The only advice I can give is to play around with it and learn things as you go. That's about what I had to do with Cool Edit Pro 2.

Cool Edit Rocks!  I have used it for may years since Syntrillium still owned it.  You can get multiple versions of it for free on www.oldversion.com...it became very bloated once Adobe purchased it so i still use v1.2a regularly, but also have CEP 2000.

I traded the CEP designer at Syntrillium one of my mics for 2.1 original version finding the contexual help feature in at least that verison brings most anyone up to speed on whatever window feature is currently open.

There are a few general knowledge-ish post-processing threads in the sticky at the top of the forum.  There might be one or two dedicated to specific functions in CEP.  Perhaps the best place is CEP's help file.  If memory serves, it was excellent.

I have CoolEdit2000. Can I D/L a version from  www.oldversion.com. and install it and use it?  I use SAM, but like to tinker with other software, too.

TIA

Oops.  Do you have to pay for www.olderversion.com?  Is there a free option to get Cool Edit Pro?

OK, sorry to quote myself, it is free to download if you click on the file itself.  Confusing...

FWIW these look like demo /evaluation downloads.  They're free, but will stop working after the eval period and/or are crippled pending purchase of a full license.

Yeah, I discovered that too.

It was interesting to see how much Cool Edit looks like Adobe Audition, though.  They didn't change much on this product, it looks exactly the same...
