I rooted around the board looking for relevant topics, but everything I find pertains to corrupt data on a card, and I'm not sure if that's exactly what I'm dealing with in this situation.
I recently had a power loss which shut off during a show I was recording to a M-Audio Microtrack, on a SanDisk Extreme III 4.0GB CompactFlash card. The card indicates that there is a file and a numeric name, but shows the duration of the file as 00:00:00. I was using a Kensington battery pack as the power source, as the Microtrack's internal battery has been nearly depleted for some time now. This set up has worked fine for the last year or so, only last night, I started recording the set with a signal strength of 3 (out of 5) on the battery pack, which normally gets me close to a couple of hours. since the set was only about 45 minutes, this should have been fine, but it didn't make it that long - near the end of the set, I looked down, and found the Microtrack was off, and the battery pack was completely drained. That has never happened before.
I downloaded RescuePRO to see if it would be possible to retrieve the data which was lost, but in order to activate the application, I need the serial number for the card - I have no idea where that information would be located. I bought the card a while ago, and I don't have any paperwork or anything that would give that information.
The activation also requires some personal information (home address, phone number), which seems irrelevant to the issue here, or at least I don't understand the relevance - I would really like to not receive solicitations, etc. This information would not be in a database anywhere, as I've moved once or twice since the card was purchased, and any warranty, etc (if there was one, which I don't recall), would have outdated information at this point.
How do I proceed past this point? I'm simply trying to retrieve some information which may or may not be on the card, but I wasn't prepared for this registration process. Since RescuePRO is supposed to be bundled with SanDisk cards, I'm not sure why I have to jump through hoops to get the application, but it sounded like the most obvious program for this task. Perhaps there is another method I should consider?
