I currently run my R-44 on DVD batteries with reachable AA's inside for back up just in case. My question is, can I switch DVD batteries mid-show and not have any interruptions because I have the AA's?

I guess I could always do some tests of my own but figured I would ask because I'm sure someone has done this before.

Yes you can the internals will kick in while you swap.

Or you could have a dual battery GAKcable made that would allow you to run both DVD batts at once or hot swap them without having any AA batt. backup kick in.

I had one made. Very handy!

I have a dual battery cable for my V3 so that I can swap without stopping.  I initially considered making another one for the R-44, but didn't bother since the internals AA's don't run down at all using a DVD battery, swaping external batts using the internals for backup is even less prone to an accidental intermitant power hickup and one DVD battery lasts pretty much all day anyway.

But if I did want one I wouldn't hesitate to by one from Ted!

For me the $20 dual external battery was a cheap piece of triple insurance.  I've had the Wally world batteries just stop outputting voltage when showing a full charge.....

Jake: This car. This stupid car. Where's the Cadillac? The Caddy? Where's the Caddy?
Elwood: The what?
Jake: The Cadillac we used to have. The Blues Mobile!
Elwood: I traded it.
Jake: You traded the Blues Mobile for this?
Elwood: No. For a microphone.
Jake: A microphone? Okay I can see that.

Battery cables are an easy DIY project and a great way to learn beginning soldering.
