Neumann Kwonbar DINA - 17/90deg Style - Question
« on: June 27, 2010, 10:00:40 PM »
So I picked up the DINA kwonbar for the km140s. The attached picture shows how I set it up but it doesn't seem to keep that mics that "tight and secure." Seems like they could fall out pretty easily on the sides. Not sure if I need to take the the caps off the cables to secure the mics in there tighter? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

You don't have the capsules pushed in far enough.  Take your thumb and pry open the Kwon bar opening and push the cap in farther.

I just did that, thanks. Seems to be a bit more secure but not as tight as I would like. I'm sure it would be fine though..

They will stay in place just fine.  I've never had a problem.  If you want to make them tighter, you can line the inside of the mount with a small piece of gaffers tape but it isn't really necessary unless you use some other caps like the dpa4023s.

When you run them in the field, you shouldn't let the cable hang like you have them in the picture. Loop the pair through the strain relief of the A20S so that if you take a beach ball hit the capsule can't fall to the ground.

If you are concerned about them falling out, go to the hardware store and pick up a size 10 or 11 plumbing rubber washer and put one on each side just inside where the mic goes through.

Yea I just had the cables like that for the picture, but thanks for the heads up. Appreciate the suggestions.

Sounds good, I will check that out. Thanks!
