Compact Mic Stand

Does anybody know where one can get a compact-able mic stand? Something that can collapses into a compact size, and if possible has a boom arm?

My stands are like 3 ft long collapses was hoping for something that would collapse into maybe a 2 foot or less size, it does not need much height when open.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the manfroto stand as well and use it often.  the issue i have with that stand for something short is that is has a VERY wide footprint due to the legs.  With this stand it is small and collapsible.  also doubles as a short extention pole for clamping.  good luck.

I should have mentioned, I do not tape music, I do field recording and sfx gathering so sometimes I need to put te mics in a weird position, thats where the boom arm comes in handy.

I was also looking for a small collapsible stand and ended up buying the Lowel UN-55:

It is solid, at least when using the small setup that I use (CA-14 mics mounted on a Sound Professionals GNA-3 T-mount). It is a few inches longer than the Manfrotto stand when collapsed but it is longer by about 2 feet when extended.

and don't be fooled by the picture on B&H, the color of the stand is actually black and not silver. Over all, I think it is a very nice stand and I am very satisfied with it.

The Lowel UN-55 is really a great stand.
I wanted a smaller footprint, so I cut the legs down near the pivot joint and anchor or foot it.
Super well built - and 7' tall (minus legs) breaks down to 22".

Maybe this is way too small, but I use this stand with a small boom or gooseneck to mic drums or guitar/bass cabinets.  Works great under a piano too.  The folded size is 13" with a max height (without boom) of 17".

If that is too small, you could just cut down a standard tripod mic stand to make it more compact.

I just checked out of curiosity and with maximum footprint (legs completely flat on the ground) the UN-55 is 7 feet high.

If you use a smaller footprint (still very stable), you can get it up to about 2.50 meters or 8 feet 4 inches and as igene said, it is only 22" when folded.

I don't mean to be a shill for Musician's Friend, but their free shipping with any order does seem to be a good deal.  I don't know how they are going to make any money on the small items because to pick, pack, and ship anything will cost at least a few dollars.  I suspect they will drop the "free" shipping policy or raise their prices soon enough.
