I have never used the Neumann ones, but Ive used the AKG ones, and IMO, they dont make them anymore low-pro or anything, they were actually a bigger PITA than w/ out them.

As always, YMMV :)

They are commonly used for microphones attached to podiums or other desktop type applications.

What type of application are you thinking of using them for?

I use them sometimes and have had no problems with them. They're solid and not "floppy." What specifically did you want to know?

[modified later to add] I can no longer say that I've had no problems with them; the last time I tried to use them in a live recording, one of the swivels didn't pass a signal until I flexed it, and since then it's been intermittent--when set to some angles it seems OK, while at other angles it again doesn't pass a signal.

If you need them you use them - if you don't need them you don't.

It's as simple as that.

Hey Satz.  I was curious.  How do you tighten the angle or are they stiff and stay how you place them?

Dave :  no real apps just thought it would be cool to have options and I can get a pair for like 390.  Not bad for Neumann IMO.

While I like the actives I've been running full bodied for awhile now.  Just too delicate hauling them all over all the time.

They are factory adjusted to the correct pressure, but if you want to tighten them use an Allen Key (see pic. in earlier post).

These are normally used when hiding the body of the mic. under a table.

If hanging it is more normal to use the remote cable and an auditorium hanger.
