I work for a country music review show doing tech production stuff. (and of course, recording!)
We've started doing more ambitious tribute productions recently.
The music is great, and we have a good projector and use images in the production.
But we're missing some between song banter or back story about the artist.
I think this would add a nice theatrical touch.
The star/leader/MC is getting a bit old - (think Jerry Garcia 94)...
He has a hard enough time just doing his regular stuff right.
He has a great baritone MC voice (ala Garrison Keillor) - but I dont want to add to his live MC duties.
So Im going to write spoken word vignettes and have the MC read them.
I'll record them and turn them into audio clips, and cue them between songs during the live show.
I have LDs SDs and Shotguns - happy to hear any suggestions/approaches for capturing good voice recordings.
Also suggestions on location - should I do this in the venue, or in a more isolated space?
