Recorder used wrong sample rate
« on: March 18, 2011, 03:51:39 PM »
My Rockboxed iRiver recorded at 64kHz, while it was set on "use input sample rate". My UA5 doesn't even have 64kHz, so that wasn't it. Two questions, can this be fixed and what can I do to fix the file? It sounds like the Chipmunks on playback. Is there some way to correct the info or do I have to do a time stretch and/or pitch correction? The UA5 was outputting 44.1kHz.

iRivers seem to do this on occasion.  I've had it happen to me twice in the past.

I would use Reaper to pitch/time correct the file and re-render it.

You have to turn on the digital source before you turn on the iRiver. So, then the iRiver locks to the source, rather than the default 64kHz.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

Isnt this just the classic "wrong sample rate in file header" problem?

yes, just fix the file header and the file will play back fine.

Why yes it is. If I had searched "too fast too slow" I might have found it.
So I have to download Sox and do those command line things? Is there an easier way to change the number? Or use Audacity?
Great, thanks. How's Reaper? I guess I'll try it, I use Samplitude now and it has many screwups and bugs.
I'm trying the changesamplerate.exe program.
