Sony PCM-M10 on-board speaker problem
« on: April 04, 2011, 07:23:57 PM »
I recently bought a Sony PCM-M10 which works fine except for very low playback volumes when I use the internal, on-board speakers.
I crank up the volume to 30 and barely here anything. If I plug in my headphone the recording levels are perfect. If I increase the recording levels to the point where I go over, I occasionally get decent sound volumes out of the speakers.

Any idea what I'm doing something wrong ?? Do I have to change something in the setting ? Or is the recorder broken?  ???

Thanks

I think that is the way the speaker is on the M10.  There is only one speaker on the bottom edge of the unit.  Tiny speaker = tiny sound...at least that is what I thought.  I think it was just supposed to be for reference listening and not cranking it up to hear in a room as a music player.

What do I know though :P

I wouldn't mind a tiny sound or anything that I could here well enough for reference listening when I press my ear against the machine.
What I get kind of beats the purpose of having internal speakers...  :-\

Yeah I have to bring mine close to my ear in order to really hear it too.  I don't know if that is just the way the unit is or if it is supposed to be louder?  Maybe others will chime in with their experience.

my audio is very low as well. It would be better if these recorders didn't even have internal speakers since they are useless and it may save a few dollars on the final price.
Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.
