SP-CMC-8>ST-9100>R-09HR Optimal recording settings?
« on: May 12, 2011, 02:56:40 PM »
Hello
Major taping this weekend,  big stadium
I have switched from Sony M1 to R-09HR
My previous tapings used: SP-CMC-8>ST-9100>M1   they sound "warmer", "bassier"  when I switched to r09-HR these new tapings sound "flater"

Would someone guide me to the optimal settings? for the R09-HR
Sample rate 48/24 but the other buttons? the ones in the back?
As far as I know these are the settings I have to use/used
Limiter/AGC - Limiter
Plug In Power - Off
Low Cut - Off
Mic Gain - L
Use LINE IN
now.....
On the screen menu, peak level to use? then adjust the ST-9100 gain, I usually have the knob at 12 o clock

Other settings from the recorder menu?

Thanks!!
Ed

Limiter off, set the R-09HR at 40.  Otherwise what you're doing is perfect.  You will get slightly different sound than you got with your DAT...

Chris, on your preamp that would be something like
4 to 4:30 o clock?

On the R09-HR
On the input setup menu I'm using low cut freq at 100Hz
Is that ok?

DO NOT use bass roloff. Thats why your recording is "flat" and does have any bass/lowend ;)
