A very large camera store might have one.

Bogan/Manfrotto has a list of folks who have their stuff. You might check that and call a bunch of places and see if they have light stands or tripods.

Don't overlook the Guitar Center or locally owned music store. Since all you need is ~6' a boom stand should work, your choice of round (recommended for FOB work) or tripod base.

There's a Guitar Center on the NE side of Columbus (just inside the I-270 loop) that would only be a few minutes off your route, assuming you're going from Cleveland to Columbus on I-71, and then taking 270 over to 70.

4661 Morse Centre Drive
Columbus, Ohio 43229
Phone: 614-436-2600

I live about 20 minutes off of 71, but won't be home until later tonight, otherwise you could borrow mine.

We just had a thread about these.  I'd get one with legs, you can easily cut them later for a smaller footprint.  I'd also suggest one with a telescoping boom arm (mine is a three piece - many of the booms are one-piece).   I also cut the main pole on mine shorter. It really makes a nice tape from seat stand.   Adjusting the height of the boom arm is very quick with the little thumbscrews.

Places like GC are pretty flexible on the wheelin' and dealin'.  They are often very open to combining one base with a different boom, etc.  Or they may even have stuff out of box.

Just remember that whatever you get will likely have 5/8 threads.

PLUS - it's labor day sale weekend.  You may get a great deal!  Definitely push for a sale price.

If you want to save time, you should definitely call the Guitar Center and check to see what they have.  Else, go to their website, find some stands, and use the "check stores for availability" tool to see if it has any of them.

I have two standard microphone stands with tripod bases...one shorty that is used only on stage lip and in sit down shows at theaters 2 to 5ft max...and the standard musicians vocal microphone stand...the thing I dislike about the standard version is it is 4ft long collapsed if I leave my Shure Stereo Bar on top.

I would love one that combines the small footprint of the collapsed stage lip stand but have a 7ft max.

Is anyone aware of a 7ft version with a telescoping Boom and collapsed total length between 2-3ft? The Bogen Nano fits the bill perfect but I'm afraid it is too light for my microphone setup (Full body 460 AKG's plus stereo bar).

I also cut the main pole on mine shorter. It really makes a nice tape from seat stand.   Adjusting the height of the boom arm is very quick with the little thumbscrews.
How do you keep it from coming apart when the stops are cut off (over extension)? This method has a lot of potential.
