Topic: Manfrotto 154 alternative

If you are looking for a moderately priced alternative to the Manfrotto 154 in order to split your mics, or run multiple sets of mics, I think I might have come across a product that will fit the bill.

This bar is 60cm(2') long and all the adapters slide independently. Looks like a winner to me and the price is right.

That is cheap! I love my Manfrotto 154...had it for years and find it very versatile...you can run 3 stereo pairs (tight) and even more if you clamp below the bar.

You can even mount it vertical with a Super clamp and use it to run blumlein with large Diameter Condenser too

FYI the Manfrotto is 27" long...it just so happens that is the same spacing of Tony Faulkner's Phased Array of Omni's with Card/figure 8 pair in the middle.

That's pretty sweet and very cheap.  Is it actually metal or is it made out of plastic?

It's an obvious knock-off, but what-the-hey? I should have it by the end of the week, so I'll be able to comment on the quality. I am hoping to exploit its versatility too. The rotating adapters could prove useful in those weird places we almost always find ourselves in. It's like having a bar that's in between a baby stand and an extension arm when clamping.

If you already have the Super clamp and stud...For Large Condenser Blumlein....That is cheaper than two Windtech's or even two knock off nano clamps and studs...

I received the bar today and I am quite impressed with it. It is very lightweight, but durable enough to handle a few set of mics with no problem. Each adapter has a way to mount to a light stand, so you are not limited the center one. The spigots also are reversible, so working with various adapters is possible. The only drawback that I can see thus far is the black powder coat paint. This puppy is going to scratch like crazy especially in the areas where the adapters slide and rotate. Nonetheless, I am eager to give a whirl. $25 well spent IMO.
