MD5 Failure Message on Archive?
« on: August 12, 2012, 12:04:00 AM »
I got an email from archive that a recent upload had a md5 error of some sort.  Does not specify which file.   The archived show has the flac files, but does not have the vbr orvis or other file type.  Also, the torrent is not there, it shows torrent with a scross along it.  I have painfully slow satellite internet, which may be to blame.  The download was probably completed 5 hours before I finished up the upload with the band info and meta data.  Below is the link.  I have not tried to download the show to check it yet.  Will do that overnight and check it tomorrow.

One of the files did not upload correctly. When the system ran the md5 check there was probably an error. You can log in and look at the log file and it will tell you which file(s) are not correct. It will not do the lossy derrivations until the md5 check is good.

I have not had any problems on the latest upload system so I can't walk you through step by step.
If you are really stuck PM greenone and he can help you out (he's an admin @ Archive)

PS you don't need a torrent file for archive.

The email you got actually said what the error was, but it was way down at the bottom where folks often miss it. There was nothing wrong with the md5 or the files themselves, but you omitted a .txt file that is a required part of every upload to the Live Music Archive. The system can occasionally create one based on the information you provide, but we recommend rolling your own because the format is quite often janky.

In this case, it looks like one of the other admins created a txt file for you and uploaded it, so the show is fine now.

A link to the logs can be found by clicking "Edit item", then going to "Item manager" - look for the button labeled "show history for item". That should take you to this screen:

http://archive.org/catalog.php?history=1&identifier=revtor2012-08-03.lakegeorgesummer2012

If any of the task rows on that page are red, that means they failed and are awaiting intervention. You can read an individual task log by clicking on its number in the "task_id" column.
