Topic: Recovering a file on an Edirol R-09hr?

Hey all,
   Could use a little help. Tonight I taped a show. I've been on a bad luck streak lately. so of course.... I had an issue..
It was at a local fest, seeing an old 70's rocker play hits from yesteryear. I knew the last song was coming up, I reached over to grab something and my taping bag fell. The Edirol Popped out of the bag, unplugged itself and shut off on impact. (while recording). I turned it back on, plugged it in and caught 90% of "Come Sail Away".
  After the show, I go to play the file in question and it skips right over it. I pull out the card, put it in the computer and it shows 1.33g on the file. so I know its there.. I try to play it in winamp and ..Nothing.. I dump it into Magix Audio Cleaning Lab and it says its not a valid .wav file. I get it to load in magix, and its just white noise...
   I know the music is there.. If anyone has any input, please let me know.. I'm not a huge fan of the artist, but "Suite Madam Blue" did sound real cool, and Id like to hear it again... Ugh...

The R-09HR has a file recovery program specially for this sort of thing.

So all you need to do is to put the card back in the recorder and run the recovery program.

It's all explained in the User Manual.

The Edirol is the only recorder that has this function as far as I know - so you made the right choice in recorder.

With the card in the R09HR, press the Finder Button.  The Repair option is in that menu.

From p. 80 of the manual (found HERE).  Illustrations are in the manual.

This feature allows you to repair files that cannot be played because an accident occurred
during recording; for example, an adaptor was mistakenly disconnected or a card was
removed.
When the R-09HR detects a damaged file, the “Repair” Menu is shown in the Finder.

Select a song from the <Finder Screen>.
Use the [PLAY Button ] and [STOP Button ] to select
a song, then press the [REC Button].

Select “Repair.”
Use the [PLAY Button ] and [STOP Button ] to select
“Repair,” then press the [REC Button].
This menu is displayed only when the R-09HR detects a damaged
song.

A confirmation screen is shown. Press the [REC Button] to
repair the song.
To cancel, press the [FINDER Button] before pressing the [REC
Button].
Do not turn off power while repairing songs.

This feature cannot restore all files. Do not turn off the power or

This has worked for me in the past. Needed it when the batteries expired during a show some years ago.I try not to do that anymore.
