PLEASE HELP - Matching pair of AKG CK63
« on: November 25, 2014, 12:08:21 PM »
Hello!

I bought a pair of AKG CK63's a while ago, but after using them I found out that one capsule is 1,5 dB lower in volume than the other...

I got the company I bought it from to send me a third capsule - but now I need help to know which one to send back. Can anyone help me by looking at the graph's in this picture??? I'm not qualified to see if there is a good matching pair out of these 3. The one that's been lower in volume is nr: 555679

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jonas,

The freq responses are all very close.  What you need to match is the sensitivities.  This is listed above the graph after E.m.p.f. = xxx mV/Pa.  You can see that the two that are closest are numbers ...679 and ...620.  I think you may be mistaken on the low sensitivity mic.  Number 573 is a couple of mV/Pa lower in sensitivity than the others.

Regards,

MIQ

The 3rd I got sent to me today is number 573...

The 2 I've used for a number of shows are 679 and 620...

EDIT: No wait... It must be 679 I got today! This means I'm returning 573

THANKS!

I would also hook them up to your system and crank the stereo, and see if you notice the new one being 1.5db off from each other ;)

It's interesting to me the two made the same day are off and the other matches.
Also interesting that the same day numbers are 47 apart and then it's two months later and only 59 more where made.
