Hey all,
I think it might be time to replace my Sony Walkman, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a possible repair.
It's at LEAST four years old, possibly a little more. I can't remember when I bought it. It's had a lot of daily use in my delivery van at work. About two years ago the 3.5mm headphone output jack broke and I've had to use it via bluetooth ever since, which worked fine. I've noticed that the battery ran down every day, after six hours or so of use, so I'd charge it nightly on my iMac. About a week or so ago I added some new shows in the evening while it was plugged in (It charges over night) and the next day I noticed that even after charging all night it only had one bar on the battery scale. I used it only in the morning and then turned it off.
When I got home and plugged it in I noticed that the Sony icon was no longer showing up on my desktop and it would not boot up when I had it plugged in to the USB output. All I would get was the white wavy line, and sometimes the red low battery indicator. It's not charging at all now and I'm not sure if it's the battery or the cable. About two months ago one of our dachshund puppies ate through part of the original Sony cable and I had to get an aftermarket charging cable on the internet. The new cable worked fine but now I'm having problems. I guess I could try ordering another aftermarket cable, but it could be that the battery is just toast.
Can the battery be replaced or should I just replace the Walkman? I REALLY don't want to spend $400 on a new one. This one was I think $250 when I bought it new, but because of Trump's tariffs the price is a lot more now.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
ONT.
