Marantz PMD671 and LP Mode DATs

I got a question for some of you. I have made the switch to use the Marantz deck for all my transfers instead of finding some alternative sound card or USB converter in order to use it on my Mac Mini. It is too frustrating.

Anyways, I have a handful of DAT masters that I did in LP mode (32 kHZ) and whenever I change the recording format to 16/32 the Marantz gives me an "unsupported" prompt when I go to record the tape?

Does this thing not allow to transfer 32 kHZ via Coax? I've read the manual and I see no such thing in there. Unless I missed it. My apologies.

"PCM audio data input at 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96 kHz can be recorded."

Maybe you can set the recorder to 48kHz and then do a conversion later that only changes the rate flag, and not the data bits?
Sony and Panasonic had two different formats for LP DAT's. It's not surprising to me that Marantz didn't include that sample rate on their Solid State recorders.

Would it be better, in this case, to try to capture at 96kHz, since 32 is easily divided?  Or does that even matter?  Seems like it'd be worth a shot and then resample down after the transfer.

You might be surprised how well the analog outputs work. Try running analog and do it twice, and do an inversion test to see what, if anything, is different between the two runs. Might be good enough for you (I think it will be)
If you're really curious, do an analog transfer of something you have ripped digitally and see how different they are!?

Damn. One day that will be the upgrade from the Marantz. Looks like I'll be holding onto these DATs for a bit longer. Just want to do them properly.
