if you have to run mic-in you'll run into brickwalling but if you can run line-in you'll be golden.

All "can" referrs to is having mics that are sensitive enough to provide acceptable levels when running line in.

analog "brickwall" distortion will occur on a sony portable if you need to turn the levels down to 4 or lower to keep from clipping when running mic in.

the signal coming from the mics is too hot for the mic input on the DAT
