Archiving a DVD movie
« on: October 03, 2004, 01:38:27 PM »
I was wondering how some of you are archiving your dvd concerts.  There are a few lossless compression methods that I found at video help but those are for mpeg files etc.  I'm thinking that I just might have to zip the files?  I'm unfamiliar with ISO files, isn't that a large single file from a dvd rip?  thanks in advance

not quite sure what you mean?  I suppose if you have the hard drive space you could just archive them as .iso or video_ts folders.  If you don't have the space and are worried about the discs flaking out...maybe burn 2 copies, one that's filed away and untouched?

I have the one copy that I watch/use/lend to friends so it is in constant danger of being lost or scratched.  so I prefer to archive all my shows.  I finally switched to using dvd's for my archiving so I'd like to get the files's as small as possible because I like to use EVERY possible mb so I don't waste space.  I'll cram so flac's in with the dvd if I have to. hope that makes sense, and +t's

I will look at decrytor
