Can you put any IDE drive in a FW/USB2 case?

I'm looking to pick up a DVD burner, but want something I can use in an external case. Can I put any DVD burner in one? How about any IDE drive?

matt, i believe so.  i have one of the cases and ive gone through 3-4 hd's in it and all have been fine.
