Last Minute Chicago HOB Question(s)!
« on: July 23, 2004, 06:45:29 PM »
OK:  Prince just (Friday 7/23) announced an aftershow at the Chicago HOB Saturday 7/24.  Of the 5 Musicology shows I've been to so far this year, I've had absolutely no problems -- even though the little guy is definitely anti-taping.  Anyway, I got my ticket, and have already read alot of the previous posts about HOB security.  (Did some homework before posting!  ;))  The consensus regarding Chicago House Of Blues seems to be that it isn't as tight as some other cities, and is more "hit-or-miss".  I plan on going with the bare minimum: Giant Squids/batt box and JB3.  Could leave the JB3 behind and opt for MD, but obviously would prefer not to.  So, with a little over 24 hours to go, could anyone shed some light on:

1.  How screwed am I if they wand? (And I'm pretty sure they do, don't they?)  Any special tips here?
2.  Is there a possibility at this venue to stash your stuff, enter, and then re-enter?
3.  Anything else one with experience might be willing to suggest?

TIA for helping a newb out.

ok....i see this post hasnt been replyed to yet....i know it's old and probably unuseful to the creator but anyways, i plan on taping umphreys at HOB CHICAGO on fri so i searched and found this

HOB security got me booted from an o.a.r. show for dancing with some drunk bitch while i wasnt even drinking and i was taping sbd and it was one of the worst concert experiences of my life.......almost got my jb3 stolen, by the time they let me back up the sbd was gone and my jb3 was just sitting there

but anyways, i walked in that venue with my jb3 and a buncha wires in my pocket, they wanded me and patted me down, the wand didnt even go off, even though o.a.r. is anti taping i think the wand is prolly set for heavier/more dense peices of metal

anyways yea i plan to tape umphreys there friday night, will they restrict the height of my stand

.......i know HOB has great sound but should i stay on the main floor or try to get on the balcony.....does umphreys have a tapers section?????

Since when is OAR anti-taping? They're on archive.org, and for all I've seen have a very open policy.

all the times I've taped at the chicago hob the 'section' was directly in front of the sbd pit on the floor.
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."
