« on: October 27, 2004, 08:06:49 PM »

Well My dumbasss Must have got a wire swopped somehow. As When I pluged it into the SLA it burned the Adapta Plug up .  :o

SOOoo Now My ? is do ya think it fried the Meter Board aswell ? Is there a way to test this? I have a multi meter

my advice is to give up taping and spend every waking moment with the better half... she is beautiful!  puppy is cute too.  As for the meeter I'm betting you fried the sucker.  Was your polarity wrong or was the voltage wrong on the sla?

Thanks for the compliment on My girly , She's cool with taping , Hell it aint her money(looking over the shoulder as I type)
I Might aswell be married and saving on the taxes..

She's Not really Into Jambands But does Like a Little Panic. And the Warren Solo stuff . and she even Nitpicks the recordings sometimes for me.  ::)

The Polarity was wrong Im guessing. Im not sure if it was on the cable linking to the board or the one from the switch to the boad or the End of the adapta plug. I thought I had checked them all to be good.  :-\
The meter Box shows to accept 4-14v so I don't think the voltage was wrong..

Thanks for the help.

If the circuit is live you can send voltage in one end and it will come out the other if not it is toast.  This is called a continuity test.  Your multimeter will do a continuity test and that should tell the tale.  Assuming it is toast, you should give up and just get a svu1 :)  Makes life easier and you can calibrate it ($70 well spent).
Now back to the hottie... If she is cool with taping and isn't necessarily into the music that can be good.  Hanging at a show with an anal taper isn't that fun anyways.  So if she is sweet and willing to let you go play at rock concerts, throw a ring on that girls finger!!!

if your adaptaplug fried the short is probably in the plug wiring itself.  The source of heat is generally near the short and a 12v SLA will certainly pack enough punch to do that.

I'd say your board is fine cause the 'lectricity never got that far!

check continuity on the DC + and - .  Right where you hooked your power up.  You can also just give the board a sniff... if it smells burnt it probably is.
Now back to the important stuff.  GO RING SHOPPING!
