About to buy first set of shockmounts. How important is having a really good pair. I've noticed a drastic difference in prices on these mounts and wanted to find out how important this accesory is.

The generic, type will work just fine. As long as it keeps the mic isolated from bumpage. There is some diy efforts around here. Also the generics wil fit all SD mics.

AT's shockmount page
the 8410 is most prominent in tapers world, the 8415 is great for studio and boom use, but also gets a good amount of play with tapers also. we have them at sonicsense
