JB3 no battery power
« on: November 17, 2004, 11:38:38 PM »
Just got a new JB3 and installed the latest firmware and drivers.
It works just fine with AC power. Even though the battery icon shows the battery that came with it is charged (and I've given it five hours now), it won't turn on without the AC power. The machine has not locked up because it still operates with battery power. When I unplug the AC it shuts down.
I've tried a reset and have taken the battery out (but I don't think that's the problem because the JB3 recognizes the battery as charged).

Am I screwed or have I completely missed something here. :'(

is the battery in the right slot. there are two slots, and i think it needs to be in the correct spot for one battery.

My first JB3 is a little screwed up when it comes to batteries also...

It wont charge...

It wont run on batteries at all...

I've wondered if there might possibly be a software glitch that causes the machine to "think" wrong about the batteries...

This unit is also very heat sensitive as well...perhaps there is some sort of voltage regulator that goes bad...

I actually jumped the gun. Thought the batteries were supposed to work when the battery icon stopped flashing.
After a good 12 hour charge out of the box everything worked fine.

You must be on the Yahoo list as well. I'll share my situation with everyone here for those that aren't on the yahoo list.

I had the same problem, but it really was the battery that was bad. Left it in over night in 3 different JB3's with no luck. Tried other batteries in the unit that the battery came with, charged just fine. Finally convinced Creative of that and they told me to send back the battery and they would send me a new one. So, batteries can sometimes be the problem.

Also, the battery can be in either of the 2 bays, it does not matter which one you put it in.

Glad you got it working!
