How often do you clean your dat?

You're not supposed to rewind the tapes, so every cleaning is with a virgin tape. Tramsferring between decks shouldn't matter.
The drive structure is the same as for dat, so I wouldn't think there would be a problem. If I'm wrong, I would love to be corrected in my thinking....anyone?

I know your not suppose to rewind but I have a 5mm tape that you play for 10 seconds and can continue from the part I left off for 60? uses or so.

i got a sony cleaning tape. i play it every 50hrs in my d8 for 10-12 secs. when i run out of space, i will buy another.
