NJB3 & Over Heating!!!
« on: February 20, 2005, 11:37:47 AM »
My NJB3 seems to over heat alot especially out door. I even had it over heat inside when the crowd was thick in a small bar. I have my njb3 in  a lowepro bag w/ my UA5 and I usually keep it on top w/ the bag open. I got to two battery operating fans and plan on using them to cool my unit down. I was wonderin' if any one has any other ideas or experiences w/ these type of fans?
Peace

I use a 3" (I think it's 40mm) fan for a computer case. runs forever on a 9.6v rc pack and is very quiet. You might get noise analog in on the jb3, but I've had no problems digi.

My refurbed JB3 is INCREDIBLY heat sensitive...way more than my other JB3...

If you hold it in your hand too long it wont start...!

Not sure why...

I'm thankful - must be lucky as I've experienced no heat issues with my 3 JB3s.  Do you all have the same issues running with different internal batts, or external power?  Any of you swapped out your HD (for some other eason) and noticed the heat sensitivity went away?

Totally baffled as to what's going on here...just wondering if the batts and/or HD may be a cause or not...

i've been through 4 different JB3's 2 used 2 refurb and only had two overheating issues at 1 @ bonnaroo and 1@ ACL when it was zipped up in my bag.

FWIW: I've been trying to hold onto a spare JB3 for more than a month but i always end up needing the cash and have to sell one.

I have yet to have a heating issue with mine (knocking on wood). With my open rig, I leave it out in the open on top of my UA-5 with a towel between the two. Stealth, I actually have it in the Creative pleather pouch and clip it to my belt and cover with a sweat shirt. I notice that it gets warm, but never had a problem with it....

I was worried at first about the leather case (the very form fitting one) from Creative, but it does seem to do a great job.  The ONLY time I had overheating issues was before I got my leather case.  I hid it under my overcoat at a Deep Purple show, and when i left the venue and checked it, low and behold, it was turned off!  I think if you leave it clipped to you, or out in the open where it can breathe (but not the sun beating down on it) it really should be ok, I usetwo of the JB3s with leather cases out here in the desert of Albuquerque...
