Yo!

Is there any mac editors that can import an MP3 WITHOUT converting it to AIFF for editing. I have some mp3's I want to trim and maybe fade. I do not want to go mp3>aiff>mp3 as that would be too much lossy conversions. As far as I can tell Peak and Audacity convert to AIFF on import.

Actually mp3trimmer can adjust the gain on a frame-by-frame basis, giving a fade as the end product, without decoding and re-encoding.

Haven't explicitly tested it with a dedicated player but all the times I've made gain adjustments with mp3trimmer, they've been reflected in software-based playback of the MP3s in question.

And just to be clear, there are built in functions to do the fading, you don't have to manually adjust each frame just right.

I know MP3 players handle gain adjustment indicated in the initial frame, I just would expect subsequent gain adjustments, especially on a frame-by-frame basis, to choke a lot of players.
