Topic: help! m-audiophile 2496 static help!

found out it was my deck. the outputs are messed up.

god dang it! I thought I fixed my problem now its in the right channel!   

I am transfering from a cassette deck through RCA cables ( rec out) then running into my audiophile 2496 RCA cable -> RCA In on the soundcard. I keep getting the humming noise in the right channel. check out the clip.

also how do I boost the levels while recording back on this thing. I have read the manual a million times and its not helping. hopefully someone from ts.com can help!

make sure to get an electric cleaner (like dust off) and try that in the jack, if that doesnt wort then you need to check and make your that thetightly placed the PCI 2496 card in correctly/tightly and all the configurations are set right in the M-audio control panel.

haha negative ticket thanks Lamas... anyway if you want to boost the levels (depending on the program your using, look under setting or in wavlab on the right side you can drag the levels up to whatever pleases your ear (theres a few ways to do it and im sure someone will through some more suggestions out there, good luck)

yeah its worked. I had to clean it a bit! another +T.

now my cassette masters sound clean and crisp. no hiss or humming!

glad to hear.  Its usually simple things such as cleaning the connections from all the dust build up.

To adjust your input levels, you'll have to do that before the signal hits your soundcard.  There's a couple ways to do it, if necessary.  Your tape deck may have an output gain control, you might connect the tape deck to a reciever, mixer, or preamp that allows gain adjustmets, or you might use an external A>D decive that allows you to set the gain.  My suggestion would be an external device, like the M-Audio USB audiophile.  The other advantage this has over the soundcard is I think less noisy and less prone to clicks/dropped samples since it's outside the computer rather than PCI card.

I had the same problem when i moved, it was driving me crazy
